students fairly and welcomed all students into their classes, activities, and sports. They taught good
sportsmanship and practiced treating people with respect and dignity and encouraged students and

In our 2023-2024 academic year, we awarded approximately $700,000 in scholarships with an average of $1,500 per student.

Willamette University Early Application Deadline & Merit Scholarship Amounts
A message from Willamette University regarding application deadlines...
We shifted our application deadlines to align with peer institutions. Note our early application deadlines are now November 1, rather than November 15.
- Early Action (non-binding): November 1, 2024
- Early Decision (binding): November 1, 2024
- Regular Decision: January 15, 2025
Materials Deadlines
Required materials include the School Report/Counselor Recommendation and an official high school transcript. A teacher recommendation, test scores and an interview remain optional. If an applicant intends on sitting for an interview, it should take place on, or before, their materials deadline.

- Early Decision (binding): November 15, 2024
- Regular Decision: January 29, 2025
Merit-Based Scholarships
All admitted students will receive a merit-based scholarship based on their academic record and overall quality of the application. Scholarships for fall 2025 entry range from $26,000 to $34,000 annually.
Students admitted during our early rounds (in December) will receive the Leaders Award, an additional $1,000 annual scholarship.
Willamette's Competitive Scholarships - in areas including debate, environmental science, music, public health, STEM sciences, studio art, and theatre - range from $4,000 to $11,500 annually and also stack on other awards. Students may apply for competitive scholarships in their applicant portal after submission of their application for admission. Early applicants are encouraged to apply for these awards by November 15.
When added up, Willamette's merit scholarships can range from $27,000 to $46,500, which is immediately subtracted from the projected tuition of $53,000 for the 2025-2026 academic year. While the sticker price is larger than an in-state public university, the price a student pays is often comparable, or better, when you consider our favorable graduation rates and the added fees for in-demand programs or honors college classes made to mimic the experience offered to all Willamette students.
Need-Based Aid
We encourage all students to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) when it becomes available on December 1. Willamette neither uses, nor accepts, the CSS Profile or alternative financial aid application processes.
Contact Us
We invite you to contact us with questions about Willamette, our application process, or if you're seeking a perspective on a topic related to college admission counseling. And we invite your students to join us for Cardinal & Gold Day, our fall open house, on Friday, October 18 and Friday, November 8.

**CLOSED** Stand for The Silent. Anti-Bullying Campaign: DUE 3/31/24
Stand for the Silent, an organization helping to stop school bullying is rewarding those who help prevent bullying..
Bullying is an issue that schools and communities are contending with nationwide. To effectively prevent and address it, the help of a community is needed, including having students at school who embody anti-bullying principles. One anti-bullying organization rewards students who help address this issue at their school with college scholarships. The application window runs from March 1-31, 2024.
"Bullying prevention takes a group effort, and we want to reward some of the students who are actively addressing bullying at their schools," says Kirk Smalley, co-founder of Stand for the Silent. It's not easy for teens to actively engage in anti-bullying campaigns, so they deserve to be recognized and rewarded for their efforts."
While they would love to reward everyone helping the cause, they will reward numerous people through two scholarship programs. They have national and state scholarship opportunities for anti-bullying advocates to apply for. The number of applications for each scholarship is limited to the first 50 received. Those applying must be graduating high school seniors in the 2023-2024 school year and are planning to or are attending a college or educational institute in the country.
The national scholarship awards eight people per year with a $5,000 scholarship each. There are four given out in March and another four awarded in October. Two of the scholarships are in the name of Ty Smalley, who took his own life at age 11 due to the ongoing bullying he endured. The other two are in memory of his mother, Laura Smalley, who died tragically in 2020. Ty's parents founded the organization to address bullying nationwide and help prevent more children from such tragedies.
